About us

Welcome to our blog! We are traveling to different parts of the world in search of the Black Madonna. You can find her portraits, icons and symbolism in so many cultures. What do they look like, what are their meanings and how important are they for our spiritual journey today?

But before we take you on pilgrimage a bit about ourselves. My name is Elvira Semmoh and I am from the Mama Baranka Foundation in the Netherlands. I am Liesbeth Tjon-A-Meeuw and I live in Ghana. We like to tell stories, especially the ones that are unknown.

Our connection with the Black Madonna is about self-discovery and personal development. Not only for ourselves but certainly also for the communities around us. In this travel blog we will share what we have found on our journeys. Every place and image of the Divine Mother helped us to connect with a different aspect of her.

This travelogue has been made possible with funding from DutchCulture. A big thank you to them and everyone who has supported us along the way. You can join our travel community on Instagram and share your own experiences with the Mother Goddess.
